Solidarity campaign with the Palestinian people
In Viana do Castelo, the International Day of Peace, September 21st, was marked with the collective creation of a traditional salt carpet for peace.
As always, in defense of peace, solidarity with the Palestinian people was expressed.
Also within the scope of the Solidarity Campaign with the Palestinian People, another public act of solidarity took place on September 25th in the Praça da Estação in Ermesinde, where the exhibition “Gaza Sea of Memories and Mourning” was displayed.
The initiative was viewed by dozens of people who, to the sound of Palestinian music, looked at photographs of the destruction of Gaza cities, caused by Israel, as well as the genocide of thousands of Palestinians.
The interventions made by Manuela Branco, from CPPC, and by José António Gomes from MPPM, condemned the genocide, demanded an immediate ceasefire, and an end to the complicity of the US and NATO that allows the death of thousands of people through war, famine, and disease.
There was an appeal for everyone to participate in the initiatives that will take place within the framework of the Solidarity Campaign with the Palestinian People, namely the demonstration on November 29th in Lisbon and Porto, and it was stated loudly: Palestine Will Win! On the 28th, the same initiative took place in Espinho.
On October 1st, at Voz do Operário, in Lisbon, Solidarity with the Palestinian People was reaffirmed.
With the screening of the film Handala Voyage, the show by Jeena and Dina, and the presentation of Handala Dabke, the late afternoon and early evening were marked by the usual solidarity with the Palestinian people, where, amidst hugs and conversations, there was also room to sample Palestinian food.
On the 22nd, at Praceta da Palestina in Porto, another important solidarity initiative with Palestine took place.
The speeches, by Manuela Branco for CPPC, Paulo de Carvalho for CGTP-IN/USP, Álvaro Pinto for MPPM and Francisco Aguiar for Projeto Ruido-Associação Juvenil, converged on the need for a real and permanent ceasefire, unrestricted access for humanitarian aid, compliance with the right of return of Palestinian refugees and respect for and compliance with UN resolutions, particularly with regard to the creation of a sovereign and viable Palestinian State within the pre-1967 borders and with its capital in East Jerusalem.
On the afternoon of October 25th, the Moinho da Juventude Association, in Cova da Moura, Amadora, hosted an initiative within this campaign that brought into dialogue the traditions and cultures of Portugal, Cape Verde, and Palestine.
Initially, we witnessed a batuque performance by the Batukadeiras Finka Pé and a dabke dance performance by the Handala Dabke group, two cultural expressions that originated to enliven festive occasions but have become symbols of anti-colonial resistance in Cape Verde and the Eastern Mediterranean.
With the presence of filmmaker Manuel Guerra, professor at the Higher School of Theatre and Cinema in Amadora, the film “Cova da Moura in Palestine” was then screened, documenting the journey of young people from the Community Theatre Forum Group of the Theatre of the Oppressed Group of Lisbon — DRK to participate in the 3rd Edition of the Palestine International Theatre Forum Festival, which took place in 2011 under the theme “Positive attitude against passivity”. The film shows the discovery of both the differences and convergences of the cultures brought into contact, and reflects on the walls — visible and invisible — that persist in the contemporary world.
Catarina Nascimento composed and performed a song dedicated to Palestine.
The meeting ended with a round of conversation introduced and animated by Julie Neves, from CPPC, and in which the following participated: Serenah Sabat, a Palestinian refugee residing in Portugal; Carlos Almeida, from MPPM; José Castilho, from Projeto Ruído; Manoel Guerra, director; Reginaldo and Tchino, two of the young people who traveled to Palestine in 2011; and Flávio Almada, from Vida Justa.
There was also an opportunity to sample Palestinian gastronomy, and an appeal was made for a large participation in the demonstrations that, on November 29th, at 3 pm in Lisbon (Restauradores) and Porto (Praça da Batalha), will be the culmination of this Solidarity Campaign with the Palestinian People.

Todos Pela Palestina! Fim ao genocídio! Fim à ocupação!- Campanha de solidariedade com o povo palestiniano
Em Viana do Castelo, o Dia Internacional da Paz, 21 de setembro, assinalou-se com a confeção coletiva de um tradicional tapete de sal pela Paz.
Como sempre, na defesa da Paz, ficou expressa a solidariedade com o povo palestiniano.
Ainda no âmbito da Campanha de Solidariedade com o Povo Palestiniano decorreu, dia 25 de Setembro, na Praça da Estação em Ermesinde, mais um acto público de solidariedade onde esteve exposta a Exposição “Gaza Mar de Memorias e Luto”.
A iniciativa teve a visualização de dezenas de pessoas que ao som de música palestiniana olharam as fotografias de destruição de cidades de Gaza, provocadas por Israel, assim como o genocídio de milhares de palestinianos.
As intervenções feitas por Manuela Branco, do CPPC, e por José António Gomes do MPPM, condenaram o genocídio, exigiram cessar fogo imediato, e o fim da cumplicidade dos EUA e da NATO que permite a morte de milhares de pessoas pela guerra, fome, doença.
Apelou-se à participação de todos nas iniciativas que decorrerão no âmbito da Campanha de Solidariedade com o Povo Palestiniano, nomeadamente a manifestação de dia 29 de novembro, em Lisboa e no Porto e afirmou-se bem alto: Palestina Vencerá! No dia 28, a mesma iniciativa teve lugar em Espinho.
No dia 1 de Outubro, na Voz do Operário, em Lisboa reafirmou-se a Solidariedade com o Povo Palestiniano.
Com a exibição do filme Handala Voyage, o concerto de Jeena e Dina e a atuação de Handala Dabke, o final da tarde e início de noite foi marcado pela solidariedade de sempre com o povo palestiniano, onde entre abraços e conversas houve espaço para provar também comida palestiniana.
No dia 22, na Praceta da Palestina no Porto, mais uma importante iniciativa de solidariedade para com a Palestina.
As intervenções, de Manuela Branco pelo CPPC, Paulo de Carvalho pela CGTP-IN/USP, Álvaro Pinto pelo MPPM e Francisco Aguiar pelo Projeto Ruido-Associação Juvenil convergiram na necessidade de cessar-fogo real e permanente, do acesso irrestrito de ajuda humanitária, do cumprimento do direito de retorno dos refugiados palestinianos e do respeito e cumprimento pelas resoluções da ONU, nomeadamente no que respeita à criação de um Estado da Palestina, soberano e viável nas fronteiras anteriores a 1967 e com capital em Jerusalém Oriental.
Na tarde de 25 de Outubro, a Associação Moinho da Juventude, na Cova da Moura, Amadora, acolheu uma iniciativa inserida nesta camapnha que pôs em diálogo tradições e culturas de Portugal, de Cabo Verde e da Palestina.
Num primeiro momento, assistimos a um batuque interpretado pela Batukadeiras Finka Pé e a uma exibição de dança dabke pelo grupo Handala Dabke, duas manifestações culturais que nasceram para animar ocasiões festivas mas que vieram a tornar-se símbolos de resistência anti-colonial, em Cabo Verde e no Mediterrâneo Oriental.
Com a presença do realizador Manuel Guerra, professor da Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema, na Amadora, foi em seguida projectado o filme «Cova da Moura na Palestina» que documenta a viagem de jovens do Grupo Comunitário de Teatro Fórum do Grupo do Teatro do Oprimido de Lisboa — DRK para participar na 3ª Edição do Festival Internacional de Teatro Fórum da Palestina que decorreu em 2011 sob o tema “Atitude positiva contra a passividade”. O filme mostra a descoberta, tanto das diferenças como das convergências das culturas postas em contacto, e reflecte sobre os muros — visíveis e invisíveis — que subsistem no mundo contemporâneo.

O encontro terminou com uma ronda de conversa introduzida e animada por Julie Neves, do CPPC, e em que participaram: Serenah Sabat, refugiada palestina residente em Portugal; Carlos Almeida, do MPPM; José Castilho, do Projecto Ruído; Manuel Guerra, realizador; Reginaldo e Tchino, dois dos jovens que se deslocaram à Palestina em 2011; e Flávio Almada, da Vida Justa.
Houve ainda oportunidade para experimentar uma mostra da gastronomia palestina e ficou um apelo para uma grande participação nas manifestações que, em 29 de Novembro, às 15h em Lisboa (Restauradores) e no Porto (Praça da Batalha), serão o culminar desta Campanha de Solidariedade com o Povo Palestiniano.
