The World Peace Council expresses its deep concern and opposition to the recent developments surrounding the “US Peace Agreement” on Palestine, under the supervision and enforcement of the US government, which is a clear continuation of the “US plan of the century.” This ‘new’ plan turns Palestinian Gaza Strip into a de facto US protectorate, leaving the Israeli occupation of Palestine untouched, especially over 50% of the Gaza Strip territory.
The US has no moral and no legal authority to mediate a “Peace Agreement” when it is clear that Israel’s genocidal war against the Palestinian people, for more than 2 years, has been possible only thanks to the full approval and support of the US and the coexistence of the European Union and other allies around the world. The imperialist controlled international media, which praises the supposed end of the war, fails to mention the 69,000 dead Palestinians, including 19,000 children, the total destruction of the Gaza Strip and its infrastructure, homes, hospitals, schools, etc. π. The unprecedented and inhumane suffering of the Palestinian people, the denial of recognition of the inalienable right to self-determination and a sustainable and independent state to the Palestinian people continue, while the Israeli occupation army attacks cities and villages every day, even in the occupied West Bank, while the Israeli army has developed more than 1,200 iron gates that surround and lock entrances and exits to and from Palestinian villages.
This US plan does not aim at peace, it is part of the imperialist plan for the “New Middle East”, it leaves Israel and its government, responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity, untouched for its internationally documented genocide. This US plan does not mention the illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, nor does it mention the release of Palestinian politicians detained from Israeli jails or the right to return Palestinians to their homes under UN resolution 194.
These two years of the Israeli war of ethnic cleansing were carried out under the slogan: “a people without a country and a country without a people.” The hypocrisy and cynicism of the US, the EU, the reactionary dominated states of the Persian Gulf regarding the “humanitarian crisis” was and is overwhelming. Israel’s so-called right to self-defense is false and unfounded when the massacres of tens of thousands of Palestinian citizens are observed.
The World Peace Council expresses its wholehearted solidarity with the Palestinian people, who have been under Israeli occupation for more than 77 years and supports and demands the establishment and recognition of an independent state of Palestine within the borders before June 4, 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital. It is the right time for Palestine to join as a full member state in the United Nations.
